As a deal blogger and looking at the store deals weekly I know that one of the main items that doesn’t get many coupons or sales is meat. I’m lucky to find chicken for $1.99/lb and if I find it for less than that its probably in the manager special mark down bin and turning brown (yeck!). I have had many “food trucks” come to my house and offer me meats at a discount but I didn’t trust the look of the truck, the attitude of the sales man or the look of the meats they were trying to sell me. I was happy to find Zaycon Foods. Zaycon Foods offers farm fresh meats, poultry and produce items at bulk buying discounted prices. One of the first things I wanted to know about Zaycon Foods and the meats they sell was are the animals hormone fed? The answer is no, Zaycon Foods does not work with farmers who feed their animals hormones, it is 100% natural. Zaycon Foods warrants that all food products sold and delivered by Zaycon Food will be of acceptable quality, fit for consumption and free from spoilage and damage.
Zacon Foods delivered 40 lbs. of boneless, skinless chicken breasts directly to my house. I didn’t really know what to expect. After the chicken was delivered my grandma, mom and aunt helped me separate the chicken breasts. 40 lbs of double chicken breasts is A LOT of chicken! I took 1 double chicken breast and put each one in a ziploc freezer bag. We ended up with 24 ziploc bags! I split the bags of chicken between me and 4 other families. I fixed different types of meals with our chicken. My favorite at the moment is bacon cheddar chicken cooked in the crockpot. 1 double breast fed my family of 4 and we had some left over. The chicken is pretty big and it tasted as good as it looked. It wasn’t dried out or tough to chew. I was told that since the chicken was skipping the middle man (to help cut costs) that I might need to trim the fat from the 40 lbs. of chicken. After opening the 5 bags and inspecting the chicken I didn’t see enough fat on any of the chicken to even attempt to trim.
The way Zaycon Foods works is they work directly with local farmers to get deals on meat and produce and then in turn can sell the items to us at a discount since there is no middle man to jack the cost up. Zaycon Foods only offers bulk buying of their products. The price of the 40 lbs. of chicken breasts is $1.48 to $1.75 a lb. That’s better than the $1.99 I have been paying. If you dont have the budget or freezer space for all 40 lbs of chicken yourself, bulk buying is great way to get this deal for yourself and share with family or neighbors. You can split the cost of the chicken and then split the chicken once you get it. It really is a good deal. Right now Zaycon Foods is mainly on the west coast (they are based out of Washington) but are working to expand all the way over to us on the East Coast. If we can show them that we want them to be here they will come. How do we show them that we want them here? You can sign up for a free Zaycon Foods account and keep an eye out for a sales event near you. If we can get a high number of people to sign up from the east coast they will bring a sales event to us and I will be able to offer y’all a giveaway! Who wouldn’t want a giveaway of a lot of food right? So let them know you want them out here by signing up for a Zaycon Foods account. Besides chicken, they have sales going on right now in ID, OR, WA, AZ and TX for items such as the 40 lbs chicken breast, 93/7 super lean ground beef, fresh peaches, cherries and blueberries as well as hickory smoked bacon. Yum! You’ll need to sign up and log in to view the Zaycon Foods sale event list to find the cities that are offering the sales events.
disclaimer: I received a 40 lb box of chicken, free of charge, from Zaycon Foods for the purpose of this review. There was no money given for this post. All opinions of the company/product(s) are that of Mama Bee Does and family.
